The First Ohio Government Jackass Award from The Pullins Report
It's a New Year and with a New Year we introduce a new feature here at The Pullins Report, the Ohio Government Jackass Award. The award will be presented on this blog, as I think is needed, to an unlucky Ohio government official, agency, or group of officials that wanders onto my radar screen. Suggestions are always helpful and can be emailed to me at scott@pullinsreport.com .
I am so unproud to present the first Ohio Government Jackass Award to my very own Knox County Commissioners, Teresa Bemiller, Bob Wise, and Allen Stockberger.
Now I know that with falling revenues, laying off employees, and cutting budgets, times around the plush County Office Building are probably tough. But I'm thinking that times aren't too tough to send someone out with a broom and some ice melt and clear off the snow, ice, and slush that have accumulated today on the front steps of the county building and next door at the courthouse. It might also make sense to send someone with a mop down to the entrance way to the building, and mop up those wet slippery tile floors.
You all know, the main entrance that is just steps away from your offices! It's pretty pathetic to see that the only sidewalks and steps not cleared on a block are those overseen by a government agency.
Now I don't practice too much personal injury work here, but my guess is that if someone, like a seasoned citizen, would fall and break a hip or worse, Knox County would probably be liable. Perhaps you should ask your attorney, Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher to get an opinion from the high priced legal counsel that he hires from Columbus.
