Scott did not answer my question when I called in. I did not hear good answers to how to get arrive at your final destination once you arrive there.
The Density explanation is a false reason. Since we do not and will never have comprehensive public transpiration systems in any of the cities, the idea is foolish. The population growth in all three cities is outward towards the suburbs, but public transportation is center-city based. Are you going to drive 45 minutes driving downtown just to get to the train station?

Ask yourself what steps you would take to take a train to one of the cities for business and then to spend a day or two visiting family.
Let me help. Answer these questions:
    1) How am I going to get to the train station? Will have to drive to train station? Will I have to drive to a city bus stop, unload luggage only to then load it on a city bus.? Will a city bus take me to the train station or does that require as transfer? This may require walking around downtown with your luggage between buses or walking to the train station. Would you take a cab to the train station? Do you want to take a cab to the train station? For most people, there is not a bus stop with walking distance, especially if you are carrying luggage in the rain or snow. Bus service is limited on weekends. Bus service is limited to the suburbs. Bus service is very limited to the suburbs on weekends. If you drive to the station, is there ample parking nearby? How many times have you handled your luggage so far? How much have you spent to get the train station?
    2) Once I arrive at the destination city, how am I going to get to my final destination, bus, cab, multiple buses? See the bus discussion in 1. Will I need to rent at car to get to my final destination? Is one available at the train station? Will a family member be expected to pick me up at the train station or a remote buys stop? Will I have to walk around downtown to find a cab or bus?
    3) Now that you are at your final destination, how time have you handled your luggage so far? How long did it take you to reach your destination via the car, bus, cab, train, bus, cab car compared to just plain driving? How much have you spent so far?
4)What if you want to visit more than one person in the destination city? How do you get there? That opens up another thought process and level of analysis.
    5) Now it is time to go home. How am I going to get to the train station? See number 2 and work in reverse. Don’t forget the rental car? Make sure the bus runs or a cab is available. How many times have you touched your luggage so far? How much have you spent so far? What if you want to visit more than one person in the destination city? How do you get there? That opens up another thought process and level of analysis.
    6) Now I am at the train station. How am I going to get home? See number 1 and work in reverse. How many times have you touched your luggage so far? How much have you spent so far?
